Evolution Fitness FAQ
Is Evolution Fitness a gym?
No, it is an advanced training and performance center where we provide expert and detailed instruction with group exercise classes. The center was founded by and is facilitated by physical therapists who are experts in biomechanical movement and exercise. We are very meticulous with proper form and technique with all classes in order to provide you with the most effective and efficient workout while being safe and eliminating the risk for injury. We call it INTELLIGENT FITNESS.
How do I sign up for classes?
To see the complete schedule of classes and reserve your space in the classes, please visit https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/ASP/home.asp?studioid=15679. From there, you must create an account in order to sign up for classes.
Can I drop into a class without reserving through the Mind Body site?
Yes, you may pop into a class and pay at the front desk prior to class. However, there is no guarantee that space will be available as students reserving their space online do have priority.
How much are classes?
There are basically two tiers of classes – the first is regular group classes which include TRX, bootcamp and sport-specific strengthening (i.e. triathlon, lacrosse, running, soccer, etc.) These classes are all $30/class or 10 class series for $250 or 20 class series for $400.
The second tier of classes are the Physical Therapy (PT) classes (Hard core, Upper Body Strengthening, Lower Body Strengthening). These classes are all $40/class but are also eligible for your insurance to reimburse for the class.
Where do I park and how much does it cost?
Parking is located behind the building or in the designated lot located at the corner of Major St and Mesmer Ave. Street parking is also available. There is no cost to park in our lots.
How can I get my insurance to pay for these classes?
You must have a prescription from your physician for physical therapy with a diagnosis in order to have insurance cover the class. You must also have a PPO insurance plan in order to be covered. You must also have an evaluation by one of our licensed physical therapists prior to using insurance for these classes. This evaluation will identify any weaknesses, tightness, instability or any other dysfunction that will be relayed to the PT leading class in order to provide you with the most individualized attention to address your particular body's needs.
How much do I pay if my insurance is covering the classes?
Each individual’s insurance benefits are different. You are still responsible for paying your deductible and copay/co-insurance but the $35/class fee is waived and you are only responsible for the amount per your insurance coverage. If you don’t know what the specifics of your physical therapy benefits are, you can call the insurance company or call Evolution Physical Therapy at 310-915-6100 and we will provide a courtesy call to your insurance carrier to get detailed information on your personal benefits and coverage.
Is there anything else I need to do prior to coming into the PT Group Classes with insurance?
Yes, you must first schedule a one-on-one evaluation with a physical therapist who will do a comprehensive orthopedic evaluation and give you a home exercise program to address your impairments. Your PT will also educate you on proper form and mechanics that we will be looking at while you are taking the group classes. And finally, your therapist will determine if you are appropriate to take the class as they tend to be higher level, more advanced classes.
What makes these PT classes so unique?
These classes are taught by a licensed physical therapist who is an expert in proper movement. No health care professional is as educated or experienced to provide you with direction and help you achieve your goals as safely and effectively as possible. Class sizes are limited to provide you with the best individualized care. All the components of a complete wellness plan are emphasized in these classes (cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, strengthening and stabilization, and balance and proprioception). And finally, a PT Aide is also present at the class to help facilitate a very “hands on” approach to give you the most effective and intelligent workout possible.
Can I just pay cash for the PT Classes without a prescription?
Yes, and many of our patients who have graduated from their physical therapy care do continue with us in these classes and with personal training.
Do you offer personal training and massage?
Yes, we also have massage and personal training services by certified trainers and licensed massage therapists. Costs are $85 for 60 minutes of massage or personal training. Multi session series discounts are also available for personal training?
Do you also do traditional physical therapy at Evolution Fitness?
Yes, but these appointments must be scheduled. These services are $150 for the initial evaluation and $120 for subsequent visits which includes all of the services provided during the treatment including modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ice, taping, etc.)
Will there be more classes added to the schedule?
Yes, we are always interested to hear what types of classes and what the optimal times are for our students. We will be making changes as needed to meet the desires of the majority. If you have any ideas for classes or feedback, please don’t hesitate to let us know?
Do you have showers?
We have shower facilities available at Evolution Physical Therapy (located on the 3rd floor at 11825 Major St - just next door to Evolution Fitness). The hours available for showers are M-F 7am-7PM and Saturdays 9am-2PM.
